SG BUSINESS GRANTS ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Most Singapore grants have similar eligibility requirements such as:
To qualify for the EDG Singapore grant, your business must:
- Be registered and operating in Singapore. EDG is open to Sole Proprietors, Limited Liability Partnerships and Pte Ltd companies.
- Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding.
- Have less than 200 employees OR have less than SGD100 million annual turnover. Ideally, with a minimum SGD500,000 turnover.
- Not be a start-up. You should ideally be operating for at least 2 to 3 years.
- Has business activity and preferably growth in the last few years.
- Have plans to contribute to “workers’ outcomes”. i.e. You intend to increase your number of employees*, increase the salary of existing employees or provide training to upgrade existing employees.
- Be in a financially viable position to start and complete the project. (EDG works on a reimbursement basis and is not an upfront grant.)
*Officially, your business does not need to have a minimum employee headcount. But, businesses with more than one employee are generally preferred unless you can demonstrate projected growth in human resources with the success of the project.
ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT GRANT
EDG is probably currently the most comprehensive grant for customised full-scope projects.
The grant, administered by Enterprise Singapore, supports projects that help you upgrade your business, innovate or venture overseas, under three pillars.
The Core Capabilities pillar has two types of projects that apply to marketing & business strategy.
- Strategic Brand & Marketing Development
- Business Strategy Development
Strategic Brand & Marketing Development projects help your company better capture target audiences and markets by differentiating your brand, and your products and services.
Business Strategy Development projects help businesses improve profitability and transform for growth through Interventions in business strategies and optimising workflow and processes.
Objectives of these EGD projects include:
- Increase Leads, Sales & Revenue
- Increase Brand Equity
- Build Authority & Trust in the Market
- Improve Profitability
- Improve Business Workflow and Processes
- Grow Your Business
For EDG, you will need to engage an Enterprise Singapore-recognised certified management consultant (TR 43: 2015) as per their Consultant Quality Initiative to execute the project.
As a guide, EDG projects that Evolve & Adapt take on tend to range from SGD50,000 to SGD125,000.
MARKET READINESS ASSISTANCE GRANT
The MRA grant, administered by Enterprise Singapore, aims to help Singapore companies with first-step internationalisation efforts by funding various business development and marketing activities.
The MRA grant can cover up to 70% of eligible costs, capped at S$100,000 per company per new market which refers to a target overseas country whereby the applicant has not exceeded S$100,000 in overseas sales in each of the last three preceding years.
The total ceiling support of S$100,000 is divided across the three MRA pillars as follows:
- Overseas market promotion (capped at S$20,000)
- Overseas business development (capped at S$50,000)
- Overseas market set-up (capped at S$30,00)

DIGITAL GROWTH SUBSIDY
The Digital Growth Subsidy (DIGS) is a subsidised support project for companies to grow and succeed in the digital economy.
It is one of the best-value comprehensive marketing & branding projects currently available to Singapore companies.
The project has a fixed scope that lasts 4 months and covers 4 main areas:
- Market Research & Analysis
- Strategic Planning
- Content Development
- Marketing Plan
Objectives of DIGS projects include:
- Increase Brand Equity
- Build Authority & Trust in the Market
- Increase Leads, Sales & Revenue
- Grow Your Business
The fees for the Strategic Marketing Advancement project are SGD50,000 and the Digital Growth Subsidy supports up to 50% of the costs upfront for eligible businesses.
The benefit of this initiative is that approval and processing time is very fast compared to EDG or MRA.
