The EDG is a government grant administered by Enterprise Singapore. It supports projects under three pillars: Core Capabilities, Innovation & Productivity, and Market Access.
EDG works on a reimbursement basis, meaning you pay for qualifying costs first, then submit documentary proof to be reimbursed.
To qualify, your business must be registered and operating in Singapore, have at least 30% local shareholding, be financially viable, and not be a start-up (ideally operating for 2–3 years). For SMEs, the criteria include having fewer than 200 employees or an annual turnover under SGD 100 million.
The EDG grants up to 50% of qualifying project costs for eligible projects. Depending on the project and pillar, these costs typically include third-party consultancy fees, software/equipment, and internal manpower costs.
Strategic Brand & Marketing Development is under the Core Capabilities pillar of the EDG. It supports branding, positioning, and marketing strategy projects that help companies differentiate their products/services and capture target markets.
Projects must be completed before reimbursement. You must submit final deliverables, audited accounts, relevant invoices/quotations, and documentation proving the project outcomes. The Business Grants Portal handles application and document submission.
Yes, subject to meeting certain conditions. The business should be operating with some track record, have plans for growth, and ideally show contributions to worker outcomes (e.g. staff training, salary increases). Having fewer employees may not disqualify you, but more robust applications often come from businesses with evidence of growth.
“Worker outcomes” refer to measures such as increasing the number of employees, raising salaries of existing staff, or providing training/skills upgrading. These show that the project has a broader impact, not just on profits but on workforce development. EDG requires these as part of the evaluation criteria.
From submission to approval, the process typically takes 8-12 weeks or more, depending on the completeness of documentation and complexity of the project.
Examples include developing a brand strategy to increase market outreach; digital marketing strategy for better online presence and lead generation; competitor or market research to identify positioning; creating marketing/sales plans or roadmaps to improve profitability.
Evolve & Adapt is a certified management consultant with extensive experience with the EDG grant. We help you scope your project, prepare the proposal and documentation, meet eligibility criteria, and ensure your project aligns with the correct pillar (e.g., Core Capabilities).
